Creative Bokeh
Bokeh is a Japanese word meaning 'the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens'.
Using cardboard cut outs to alter the shape of the aperture, we are able to create different shapes in the light. A large aperture and purposely making the lights out of focus gives the images this blurred effect which we can then manipulate.
I particularly enjoy the Bokeh effect in Christmas pictures, such as in the background of presents or the effect on Christmas tree lights. I feel that it gives a very warm, festive feeling to the image.

This image is not quite Bokeh as the lights are still rather focused, however it has good exposure and the bottles are in focus. The ISO could have been higher to let more light in, however I wanted to keep the noise as minimal as possible. To improve, I could move the lights further away to achieve the Bokeh effect.

I think that this is my best example since the lights in the background are still slightly out of focus and the foreground visible.

In this image, you can see the Bokeh in the lights in the background however, the bottle is underexposed making the label unreadable. A slower shutter speed would mean a higher exposure, improving the picture.
